Resido is a mobile application developed and operated by Resido Technologies, with its registered office at House No. 04, 2nd Main, 4th Cross, Ward No. 07, Anjani Extension, Chintamani, Karnataka 563125, India (“Licensor”). The Application is licensed to You (End-User) exclusively under the terms of this Agreement.
By downloading the Application from Google’s software distribution platform (“Play Store”), including any subsequent updates, You confirm that You agree to be bound by all terms and conditions set out herein.
You acknowledge that the Play Store is not a party to this Agreement and bears no obligations regarding the Application, including warranty, liability, maintenance, or support. Resido Technologies, not the Play Store, is solely responsible for the Application and its content. This Agreement is consistent with the latest Google Play Terms of Service.
The Application is licensed — not sold — to You for use only on devices running Google’s Android operating system (“Devices”). The Licensor reserves all rights not expressly granted to You under this Agreement.

1. The Application
Resido (“Application”) is a mobile application designed to digitize and streamline hostel mess operations for students of enrolled educational institutions. It replaces manual record-keeping with a secure, centralized platform for billing, payments, and attendance management, customized for Android mobile devices.
The primary functions of the Application include:
- Viewing monthly mess dues, making secure online payments through integrated banking gateways, and maintaining a digital history of financial transactions with the hostel administration.
- Applying for mess rebates (leave of absence) and tracking the approval status of such applications.
- Managing personal profile details, including dietary preferences (e.g., Vegetarian or Non-Vegetarian) and hostel allocation.
- Facilitating peer-to-peer assistance by allowing users to pay bills or apply for rebates on behalf of other authorized students (“Friend Actions”).
- Receiving automated customer support and query resolution through an AI-powered chatbot assistant.
- Monitoring prepaid wallet balances and loan deductions for students under specific financial aid schemes.
- Creating and managing support tickets to communicate issues or queries directly with the hostel administration, and tracking resolution progress through in-app messaging.
- Receiving push notifications for payment reminders, bill issuance alerts, rebate approval or rejection updates, fine or penalty notices, and administrative announcements.
- Scanning QR codes within the Application for payment verification and quick-access operations related to hostel mess services.
- Authenticating using device biometrics (such as fingerprint or facial recognition) as an additional security layer to protect sensitive account and payment information.
- Registering and managing up to three (3) authorized devices linked to the user’s account, ensuring secure and controlled access.
- Generating and downloading digital payment receipts in PDF format for completed transactions, for personal record-keeping purposes.
- Submitting requests to change dietary preferences, subject to approval by the Hostel Administration.
- Viewing loan deductions and financial aid adjustments applied to monthly mess bills for students enrolled in institutional financial aid schemes.
- Accessing a home screen widget that provides a quick overview of pending mess dues and account status without opening the Application.
- Monitoring system and service status information, including maintenance notifications and Application health indicators.
- Participating in an optional in-app interactive game (“Gravity Game”) as a recreational feature, with leaderboard tracking.
- Authenticating via email link sign-in (magic link), where a one-time authentication link is sent to Your registered email address for passwordless login.
2. Licence Grant and Restrictions
2.1 Subject to this Agreement, the Licensor grants You a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable, revocable licence to install and use the Application on Devices that You own or control, as permitted by the Usage Rules.
2.2 This licence also covers any updates to the Application provided by the Licensor that replace, repair, or supplement the original Application, unless a separate licence accompanies such update.
2.3 You will not share, distribute, or make the Application available to third parties, sell, rent, lend, lease, or otherwise redistribute the Application.
2.4 You will not reverse engineer, translate, disassemble, decompile, modify, create derivative works of, adapt, or attempt to derive the source code of the Application, or any part thereof, except with our prior written consent.
2.5 You will not copy or alter the Application or any portion thereof. You may create backup copies only on Devices that You own or control. You will not remove any intellectual property notices. If You sell or transfer Your Device to a third party, You must remove the Application beforehand.
2.6 Any breach of the restrictions above, including attempted violations, may result in legal action and claims for damages.
2.7 We reserve the right to update or amend these licence terms at any time. Continued use of the Application after such changes constitutes Your acceptance of the revised terms.
2.8 Nothing in this Agreement restricts applicable third-party terms. When using the Application, You must also comply with all relevant third-party terms and conditions.
3. Technical Requirements
3.1 The Application requires Android 7.0 (Nougat) or higher. We recommend using the latest version of the Android operating system for optimal performance and security.
3.2 The Application requires an active and stable internet connection (Wi-Fi or mobile data) for all core functions, including authentication, bill viewing, payment processing, push notifications, and data synchronisation. The Application does not function in offline mode.
3.3 We endeavour to maintain compatibility with updated firmware versions and new hardware, but You are not entitled to demand such updates.
3.4 It is Your responsibility to verify that Your Device meets the technical specifications described above before installing the Application.
3.5 We reserve the right to modify the technical requirements at any time as we see appropriate.
4. Maintenance and Support
4.1 The Licensor is solely responsible for providing maintenance and support services for the Application. You can reach us at the email address listed in the Play Store listing for the Application or in the Contact Information section of this Agreement.
4.2 You acknowledge that the Play Store has no obligation to provide any maintenance or support services for the Application.
5. Data Collection and Usage
5.1 You acknowledge that the Licensor will be able to access and manage Your Application content and personal information. The Licensor’s use of such material and information is governed by Your legal agreements with the Licensor and the Licensor’s Privacy Policy, available at: https://app.residotech.com/privacy-policy.
5.2 You acknowledge that the Licensor may periodically collect and use technical data and related information about Your Device, operating system, application software, and peripherals to facilitate product support, software updates, and other services related to the Application. The Licensor may also use this information in an anonymized, non-personally-identifiable form to improve its products and services.
6. User Content and Feedback
6.1 We may provide You with the opportunity to submit content and materials through the Application, including text, feedback, support ticket messages, rebate application details, or other material (collectively, “Contributions”). Contributions may be viewable by authorized administrative users and will be treated in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
6.2 When You create or make available any Contributions, You represent and warrant that: Your Contributions do not infringe the proprietary rights of any third party; You are the creator and owner of, or have the necessary licences and permissions to submit, Your Contributions; Your Contributions are not false, inaccurate, misleading, obscene, harassing, defamatory, or otherwise objectionable; Your Contributions do not violate any applicable law or regulation including those concerning child protection and privacy; and Your Contributions do not contain offensive comments connected to race, national origin, gender, sexual preference, or physical disability.
6.3 Any use of the Application in violation of the foregoing may result in termination or suspension of Your rights to use the Application.
6.4 You agree that we may access, store, process, and use any information and personal data You provide, in accordance with our Privacy Policy and Your preferences.
6.5 By submitting suggestions or other feedback regarding the Application, You agree that we may use and share such feedback for any purpose without compensation to You.
6.6 We do not claim ownership over Your Contributions. You retain full ownership of Your Contributions and any associated intellectual property rights. You are solely responsible for Your Contributions and agree to hold us harmless from any claims arising from them.
7. Liability
The Licensor’s responsibility for violations of obligations and tort is limited to cases of intent and gross negligence. In cases involving a breach of essential contractual duties, the Licensor may also be liable for slight negligence, limited to foreseeable, contractually typical damages. This limitation does not apply to injuries to life, limb, or health.
7.2 The Licensor accepts no responsibility for any damages caused by a breach of duties under Section 2 of this Agreement.
7.3 The Licensor will not be held liable for errors, inaccuracies, or misleading responses provided by the automated AI Support Assistant. The AI chatbot is offered for convenience only and does not constitute official administrative or legal advice.
7.4 The Licensor will not be held liable for transaction failures, double-debits, or processing delays caused by any authorised third-party payment processor integrated with the Application, including but not limited to HDFC Bank, Juspay, or any future payment gateway partner.
7.5 The Licensor will not be held liable for errors in displayed bill amounts, attendance records, or rebate statuses that originate from the Hostel Administration’s data or from data entry errors by institutional staff or mess committee members.
7.6 The Licensor will not be held liable for temporary unavailability of the Application due to scheduled maintenance, server outages, or mandated shutdowns by the Hostel Administration.
7.7 The Licensor will not be held liable for any disruption, data loss, or inability to access the Application caused by poor, intermittent, or unavailable internet connectivity. The Application requires an active internet connection for all core functions.
7.8 The Licensor will not be held liable for delayed, failed, or undelivered push notifications. Notification delivery depends on third-party services (including OneSignal and Google Firebase Cloud Messaging), device-level settings, and network conditions. Users should not rely solely on push notifications for time-sensitive payment deadlines.
7.9 The Licensor disclaims all liability for unauthorized access, data breaches, or security vulnerabilities arising from the use of the Application on rooted, jailbroken, or otherwise tampered devices.
7.10 The Licensor will not be held liable for financial disputes, errors, or disagreements arising between users as a result of the “Friend Actions” feature. Both parties involved in any peer-assisted transaction bear full responsibility for verifying the accuracy and intent of the action before it is executed.
7.11 The Licensor assumes no responsibility for failures, false rejections, or unauthorized access resulting from device-level biometric authentication. Biometric functionality is provided by the device manufacturer’s hardware and operating system and is outside the Licensor’s control.
7.12 The Licensor will not be held liable for any failure or delay in performing its obligations under this Agreement where such failure or delay results from circumstances beyond the Licensor’s reasonable control, including but not limited to: natural disasters, pandemics, government orders or regulations, infrastructure failures, power outages, internet service disruptions, cyberattacks, or actions of any regulatory authority (Force Majeure).
8. Warranty
8.1 The Licensor warrants that the Application is free of spyware, trojan horses, viruses, or any other malware at the time of Your download. The Licensor warrants that the Application functions as described in the user documentation.
8.2 No warranty is provided for the Application if it is not executable on Your Device, has been modified without authorization, handled inappropriately, combined or installed with incompatible hardware or software, or used with inappropriate accessories.
8.3 Please review the Application promptly after installation and notify Resido Technologies of any issues discovered without delay by emailing the address provided in the Contact Information section. Defect reports will be considered and investigated if submitted within thirty (30) days of discovery.
8.4 If we confirm that the Application is defective, Resido Technologies reserves the right to remedy the situation either by resolving the defect or by providing a substitute delivery.
8.5 In the event of any failure of the Application to conform to any applicable warranty, You may notify the Play Store, and Your purchase price (if any) will be refunded to You. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the Play Store will have no other warranty obligation whatsoever with respect to the Application.
8.6 If You are an entrepreneur, any warranty claim expires after twelve (12) months from the date the Application was made available to You. Statutory limitation periods apply for consumers.
9. Claims and Responsibilities
Resido Technologies and the End-User acknowledge that Resido Technologies, and not the Play Store, is responsible for addressing any claims of the End-User or any third party relating to the Application or the End-User’s possession and/or use of the Application, including but not limited to:
- product liability claims;
- any claim that the Application fails to conform to any applicable legal or regulatory requirement; and
- claims arising under consumer protection, privacy, or similar legislation.
10. Legal Compliance
You represent and warrant that You are not located in a country that is subject to a US Government embargo, or that has been designated by the US Government as a “terrorist supporting” country; and that You are not listed on any US Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
11. Termination
11.1 This licence is valid until terminated by Resido Technologies or by You.
11.2 Your rights under this licence will terminate automatically and without notice if You fail to adhere to any term of this Agreement.
11.3 Upon termination, You must immediately cease all use of the Application and destroy all copies, whether full or partial, of the Application on Your Devices.
11.4 Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including but not limited to Liability, Warranty, Intellectual Property Rights, Dispute Resolution, and Data Retention) will remain in effect after termination.
12. Institutional Eligibility
12.1 The licence granted under this Agreement is strictly conditional upon Your continued enrolment as a student of the educational institution registered within the Application and Your residency in the institution’s hostel. The Application is intended solely for active hostel residents.
12.2 This licence will automatically terminate, and Your access to the Application may be revoked without notice, upon: (a) Your graduation, withdrawal, or expulsion from the institution; (b) Your vacating of Your hostel room; or (c) a directive from the Hostel Administration to suspend Your privileges.
12.3 Upon such termination, You must immediately cease all use of the Application and uninstall it from Your Devices.
13. Account Security and Device Limitations
13.1 You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of Your account credentials, including Your email address, password, and any linked authentication methods. You must not share Your login credentials, authentication links, or one-time passwords with any other individual.
13.2 The Application permits a maximum of three (3) registered devices per user account. Attempting to register additional devices beyond this limit will be automatically restricted. The Licensor reserves the right to deregister devices or terminate active sessions if suspicious or unauthorized activity is detected on Your account.
13.3 You must notify the Licensor immediately upon becoming aware of any unauthorized use of Your account or any security breach. The Licensor will not be liable for any loss or damage arising from Your failure to comply with this obligation.
14. Prohibited Uses
You agree that You will NOT:
- Use the Application on any device that has been rooted, jailbroken, or had its operating system security features intentionally circumvented or disabled.
- Attempt to bypass, disable, or interfere with any security features of the Application, including SSL certificate pinning, integrity verification, anti-tampering protections, or device security checks.
- Use any automated means, scripts, bots, or scraping tools to access, interact with, or extract data from the Application.
- Use a VPN, proxy server, or any other mechanism to mask Your identity, location, or device information while initiating or processing payment transactions through the Application.
- Deliberately manipulate, falsify, or misrepresent any data within the Application, including but not limited to bill amounts, rebate applications, attendance records, payment statuses, diet change requests, or loan and financial aid information.
- Share Your account credentials, email authentication links, or one-time passwords with any person who is not the registered End-User, or allow any non-enrolled or unauthorized individual to use the Application through Your account.
- Use the Application for any purpose other than personal hostel mess management as intended and described in this Agreement.
- Attempt to intercept, capture, or monitor network traffic between the Application and its servers.
Any violation of the above prohibitions constitutes a material breach of this Agreement and may result in immediate termination of Your licence, suspension of Your account, and potential legal action.
15. Payment Terms and Conditions
15.1 All financial transactions initiated through the Application are processed by authorised third-party payment gateways, including but not limited to HDFC Bank, Juspay Technologies, and any additional payment gateway partners integrated in the future. The Licensor does not directly process, store, or have access to Your full payment card details, bank credentials, or UPI PIN at any time.
15.2 Payment amounts displayed within the Application are determined by the relevant Hostel Administration and the institution’s mess billing system. The Licensor facilitates the digital collection of these amounts and does not set, determine, or have authority over the billed amounts.
15.3 In the event of a failed transaction where money has been debited from Your account, the refund process is handled by the respective banking partner and payment gateway in accordance with their policies. Refunds typically take five (5) to seven (7) business days but may vary. The Licensor will make reasonable efforts to assist in resolving payment disputes but is not responsible for the timeline or outcome of refund processing by third parties.
15.4 Digital payment receipts generated by the Application are provided for personal record-keeping purposes only and do not constitute official tax invoices or financial certificates issued by the institution.
15.5 You must ensure that You have sufficient funds in Your chosen payment method before initiating any transaction. The Licensor is not responsible for charges, overdraft fees, or penalties imposed by Your bank or financial institution as a result of insufficient funds during a transaction attempt.
16. Multi-Institutional Scope
16.1 The Application is designed to serve multiple educational institutions and their hostel administrations. Your account, data, and transactions are scoped to the specific institution to which You are enrolled and registered within the Application.
16.2 The Licensor is not responsible for institution-specific policies, rules, or decisions regarding mess management, billing rates, rebate approval criteria, fine structures, or any other administrative matter. Such policies are determined exclusively by the respective institution’s Hostel Administration.
16.3 Service availability, features, and billing configurations may vary between institutions based on their individual agreements with the Licensor.
17. Data Retention and Account Deletion
17.1 Upon termination of Your licence (whether voluntary or involuntary), the Licensor may retain certain data associated with Your account for a period necessary to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and maintain financial audit records as required by applicable Indian laws, including the Information Technology Act, 2000 and applicable tax regulations.
17.2 You may request deletion of Your account and associated personal data by contacting the Licensor at the email address provided in the Contact Information section, or through the account deletion mechanism within the Application. Upon receiving a valid deletion request, the Licensor will delete Your personal data within thirty (30) days, except for financial transaction records and audit logs, which may be retained for up to seven (7) years as required by law.
17.3 Deletion of Your account is irreversible and will result in the permanent loss of access to Your payment history, rebate records, and support ticket history within the Application.
18. Age Requirement
The Application is intended for use by individuals who are at least eighteen (18) years of age, or who are at least sixteen (16) years of age and have obtained verifiable consent from a parent or legal guardian. By downloading and using the Application, You represent and warrant that You meet this age requirement.
19. Notification and Communication Consent
19.1 By using the Application, You consent to receive push notifications, in-app messages, and email communications related to Your account activity, including but not limited to: payment reminders, bill issuance alerts, rebate status updates, fine or penalty notices, security alerts, and administrative announcements.
19.2 You may manage Your notification preferences for certain categories through the Application’s settings. However, certain critical notifications — including security alerts, payment confirmations, payment failure warnings, and account-related notices — cannot be disabled, as they are essential for the safe and proper functioning of Your account.
19.3 The Licensor may also send periodic communications regarding important updates to this Agreement, changes to the Application’s features, or mandatory compliance notices. Opting out of such communications is not permitted while Your account remains active.
20. Third-Party Terms and Beneficiaries
20.1 Resido Technologies represents and warrants that it will comply with applicable third-party terms of agreement when providing the Application.
20.2 In accordance with Section 9 of the “Instructions for Minimum Terms of Developer’s End-User Licence Agreement”, Google’s subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of this Agreement. Upon Your acceptance of this Agreement, Google will have the right (and will be deemed to have accepted the right) to enforce this Agreement against You as a third-party beneficiary.
21. Intellectual Property Rights
Resido Technologies and the End-User acknowledge that, in the event of any third-party claim that the Application or the End-User’s possession and use of the Application infringes on the third party’s intellectual property rights, Resido Technologies, and not the Play Store, will be solely responsible for the investigation, defence, settlement, and discharge of any such intellectual property infringement claims.
22. Applicable Law
This Agreement is governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
23. Dispute Resolution
23.1 Any dispute, controversy, or claim arising out of or in connection with this Agreement, including disputes regarding its existence, validity, or termination, shall first be attempted to be resolved amicably through good-faith negotiation between the parties.
23.2 If a dispute cannot be resolved through negotiation within thirty (30) days, either party may refer the matter to mediation administered in accordance with applicable Indian mediation rules.
23.3 If mediation fails to resolve the dispute, the dispute shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in Madikeri, Kodagu District, Karnataka, India.
24. General Provisions
24.1 Severability: If any provision of this Agreement is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect. Invalid terms will be replaced by valid ones that achieve the original intent as closely as possible.
24.2 Amendments: Changes and amendments to this Agreement are only valid if communicated in writing. This clause itself may only be waived in writing.
24.3 Entire Agreement: This Agreement constitutes the entire agreement between You and the Licensor with respect to the Application and supersedes all prior or contemporaneous understandings, agreements, or communications, whether written or oral.
24.4 Waiver: The failure of the Licensor to exercise or enforce any right or provision of this Agreement will not constitute a waiver of such right or provision. Any waiver must be in writing and signed by the Licensor.
24.5 Indemnification: You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Resido Technologies, its officers, directors, employees, and agents from and against any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from Your violation of this Agreement, Your use of the Application, or Your Contributions.
24.6 Assignment: The Licensor may assign or transfer this Agreement, in whole or in part, without restriction. You may not assign or transfer any rights or obligations under this Agreement without the Licensor’s prior written consent.
